As far as I can remember, transmission between languages has always had a place in my life, as I grew up bilingual with German and Russian. Each day presented me with a new and odd parallel or a fascinating distinction to marvel at.
As a baked-in feature of translation work, these riddles of everyday life appeal to me to this day. Besides, I greatly enjoy discovering stories, immersing myself in them, and most of all: inviting others to join me.
After gaining experience and language skills, I have been working as a freelance translator from English and Norwegian to German since 2021.
Northern Europe
I earned my B.A. in Scandinavian Studies/North European Studies. That's what's at the bottom of this niche! Ever since, I have maintained both, that special interest and an eye for the region's particularities.
Fairytales, Fantasy, and Roleplay
This genre has been a source of splendid entertainment since long ago, starting with books, board games and video games, through to actual play. Therefore, I am happy to contribute translations to it myself.
Knowledge Transfer
With all due reverie, reality remains unavoidable. I think it's important to understand it, or at least attempt to do so. In order to give as many people as possible access to knowledge, I love working on projects in (popular) science.
Currently, I exclusively translate from English and Norwegian into German.
I understand a few more languages, but that's not all it takes for a proper, high-quality translation.
Here, you're finding out about my professional skills in general.
You can find concrete examples of my work as a freelance translator in the portfolio.
Between 2019 and 2024, I prepared and fleshed out content in various areas, including instructions, marketing materials, social media posts, seo texts, and blog posts.
From 2020 to 2025 in particular, I was in charge of localizing the content of multiple websites and game apps in up to 5 languages.
That included preparing the source texts, providing glossaries, and answering the translators' questions. This familiarity with the client's perspective comes in immensely handy in my work as a translator.
Since early 2025, I have been closely involved in the realization and localization of a comprehensive app for an online card game.
Extensive online training was followed up with plenty of practical experience; hand in hand with the teams in UX design, game design, and app development.
